Mental. In a very good way
SOULWAX - MACHINE
This is awesome
I tried to convince a few DJs I know a few years back that this kind of thing would be good (not just a naff MySpace page and some nasty web ads) - but they never listened. Old DJs will never listen….. :)
This is how it should be done!
Awesome
I read her wiki page, and saw her perspective on art, which is a great outlook.
Visual art and film
While attending Central St Martin’s, M.I.A. wanted to make films and art depicting realism that would be accessible to everyday people, something that she felt was missing from her classmates’ ethics and the course criteria. At college, “the fashion courses at St. Martin’s were exciting because [it] was really disposable and moving really fast. Whereas in film, we were still working with [texts from] the 1970s,” she said. M.I.A. told Arthur “[Students there were] exploring apathy, dressing up in some pigeon outfit, or running around conceptualizing…It missed the whole point of art representing society. Social reality didn’t really exist there; it just stopped at theory.”
Awesome
Michel Gondry’s newest music video for Mia Doi Todd’s ‘Open Your Heart’. After several years conceptualizing a video involving dozens of dancers wearing bright multi-colored outfits, Michel found a perfect fit with Mia’s tune. The music was produced and arranged by long-time friend and collaborator, Jon Brion and the video features the Riverside Community College Marching Band.
